Paying Respects

Paying respects for the very recent death of Peter Shintani. Peter died on Mount Washington in Northern New Hampshire on June 9th or 10th as he sought shelter in difficult weather conditions. He had attempted Mount Washington several years ago and failed in poor weather, so he went back to try it again. I hope you reached your goal Peter. As tragic as it is, I am glad your family can now have some closure with your death. Peter Shintani's death makes 141 people who have perished on Mount Washington. I have personally felt lost for most of the last month wondering what could have happened to this climber, and it certainly has brought back some horrible traumatic memories. Peter was found about 3/4 of a mile from the summit on the Lion Head trail. He was in a difficult spot to be seen as he huddled under an overhanging rock. RIP Mr. Shinatni.
