"Then there was silence, hiss of the slide soft hushed. The mountains lay, stood, reared like creatures that dream lovely in sunlight: ebony, silver and silk just as before. But I loathed them, trembling and sick, for you had gone." -Wilfrid Noyce

Memories Made

Happy New Decade!

Wow! I am ready to move on! The Y2k decade was good and bad, overall, just OK. But forget the bad, I am looking forward, and moving on, in a lot of ways. Treasure what you have people! We could be a lot worse off and there are a lot of bad things going on in the World. Thankfully, we have people willing to risk their lives in honor of, and too protect, ours. Just a few random "look backs" on 2009 and some of my favorite adventures. Three cheers to more of the fun stuff in the coming months and years! Adventure is adaptable throughout all aspects of life. It is the spirit of adventure that keeps me alive, inside and out!

January 11, 2009. We had a big snowstorm and Steph and I wanted to get some exercise. We decided to head to Mount Agamenticus for some snowshoeing. It was a beautiful day. We took the photo below at the very spot where we were married in October, 2006. No doubt the highlight of the last decade for me.
Forever on Honeymoon!

February 2, 2009. I stood on the summit of Mount Washington for the 42nd time. This one was a solo hike to the top. A quick, safe journey to the roof of New England!
The Summit Tower and Weather Station.

A collaborative team effort for sure, but not without Steph's gifted nature spirit. She rescued this small Saw-Whet Owl from the side of a busy road near our home on February 29, and I took him to the Center for Wildlife in York, Maine so he could/ would hopefully be rehabilitated.
Injured and looking in poor condition, the Little Saw-Whet Steph saved.

Journey is a common theme...March 1, 2009 brought another foray into the Allagash with the Great Ice Fisherman. We journeyed in honor and memory of our friend David Caron who passed on January 13, 2009. Your spirit lives on in our hearts and minds forever. Renting that snowmobile and riding around the wilderness was awesome.

March brought longer, warmer days and springing motivations to ride bicycles. This from the birthday ride for Tom and I, March 25, 2009.

Red Sox -vs- Yankees! The night Jacoby stole home! Sometimes you just have to say WTF, get out the credit card, and go to a ball game!

Burning it all away! We finally burned the remnants of the Ice Storm of 2008 on New Years Eve. New beginnings, New Endeavors, New Challenges, New Life!
